These portraits were taken in the Geriatric Centre of Sarajevo in July 2013. The place looks like any other of its kind but this is Sarajevo, where every patient has painful stories of war to tell. There are stories of executions, terror, ethnic cleansing but there are also fond memories of holidays by the sea in the most cherished Tito’s Time.

Many here are not originally from Sarajevo but had to flee from the killings in their villages and most of them could not bring anything with them. Sometimes, a family picture remains in which all the characters are either dead or missing. Somehow, they all share a common ethos of the era they have lived though.
